Great meals start with fresh products, logically it is important to know how to select the best produce at the right time of the year. Meet chef Eric in Uzès and take off to explore the local market of the day (Market visited depends on the day of the class). With your French chef begin your journey into Provencal and Mediterranean cuisines shopping at local producers at a typical French market. Not to worry, our chef speaks English and the class will be conducted in English.
French market day is an essential part of French life, so it is not surprising to see that across France, markets are available at least once a week in just about every village & city district.
During our French Market Cooking Classes in Uzès. We are lucky in the Pays dUzès to have access to more than one French Market day. We have the opportunity to explore two wonderful local weekly markets for this class.
You will enjoy a tour of the typical French market day in both Uzès & Saint Quentin-la-Poteries, selecting the day’s produce to be prepared together at the school. This class is fun, educational and delicious!
We will decide the menu together with the group directly at the market based on what is fresh and in-season. You will learn how to select top quality produce from the market vendors and specialty shop owners to whom you can ask questions and from whom you will likely snag a sample or two – but you won’t want to fill yourself up, there will be plenty of food to come.
After our shopping, we will return to our French cooking school, just a few minutes drive from the markets, in Arpaillargues (transportation is included*), where we will prepare a 3-course menu from scratch: Appetizer, Main-Course & Dessert. Additionally we will enjoy a wonderful cheese-course and of course we will not forget the wine.
After preparing our meal, we will sit down and enjoy the fruits of our labor giving us an opportunity to discuss the recipes and further get to know one another over a 4-course lunch (cheese included). All our classes also include a traditional French aperitif.
*Note about transportation: We will be meeting in Uzès (details will be included in your confirmation on how to meet your chef). You will be taken either on foot on by car to the market of the day and subsequently driven to the school for class. We will provide transportation back to Uzès at the end of class. Alternatively: If you wish to drive your own car please let us know upon booking so that we may plan accordingly and provide instructions on where to park so we may all leave together.
